The Puppy Socialisation class is run by Hilary and she will be delighted to see anyone whose puppy meets the criteria for attendance. The class is for puppies who have had their first two injections and can come until they are 18 weeks of age. Puppy classes are run on a rolling basis and there is no need to book but please contact us if you would like to bring your puppy along.
Puppy socialisation trains your puppy how to behave with other puppies and people. Foundation training commands are taught which include sit, down, stand, come and settle. There is usually a play time where puppies learn body language from one another. While most puppies just want to meet others and play, socialisation is invaluable for those puppies who are shy or for those who can show aggressive or fear aggressive tendencies. Help and advice are always available if you are having specific problems.
The training sessions last for half and hour, which is long enough for these young dogs.
At your first session you will be given a handout about puppy training, You can download a copy from this link, Puppy Socialisation Pack.
Puppies who have attended socialisation classes are automatically offered a place in the next training class after they graduate from Puppy Socialisation
A record of training achievement is kept by your trainers so those wishing to complete the Kennel Club Puppy Foundation scheme are able to do so. Training for this scheme continues into the next training class and is completed before the puppy reaches 12 months of age.
Puppy Socialisation is lots of fun. We hope to teach people how to play with and train their puppy by learning the language dogs use to tell us what they are saying.
